Senior Network Systems Engineer (Pre‑Sales) - Boston
Join Arista Networks as a Senior Network Systems Engineer (Pre‑Sales) in Boston. You’ll work with our Sales Engineering team, supporting the development of network solutions and engaging clients in technical discussions.

What You'll Do
Collaborate with account managers to conduct whiteboard network architecture reviews and identify improvement opportunities.
Present Arista products—including Open Networking Data Center, Cognitive Campus (Wi‑Fi), CloudVision, Security, and Real‑time Fabric Monitoring solutions—to customers.
Design scalable data center and campus network architectures (leaf‑spine, overlay VxLAN/EVPN) that meet client requirements.
Perform hands‑on testing of proof‑of‑concept setups, designs, and deployments to validate performance.
Provide design guidelines and recommendations that balance customer needs with Arista Validated Designs.
Respond to RFP/RFQs and give feedback to product management and engineering teams.
Represent Arista at SDN and open‑networks events, promoting awareness of our solutions.
Stay current with industry trends and write whitepapers that showcase your expertise.
Qualifications
Network industry certification preferred (ACE‑L4, ACE‑L6, ACE‑L7, etc.).
Minimum 7 years of L2/L3 networking design and implementation experience, focusing on data center, campus, and Wi‑Fi solutions.
Expert‑level knowledge of routing/switching, L2/L3 protocols, and overlay technologies such as VxLAN.
Hands‑on experience designing highly scalable leaf‑spine architectures.
Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Network Consulting Engineer experience is preferred.
Deep knowledge of Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, QoS.
Understanding of competitor technologies (Cisco, Juniper).
Proficiency with industry‑standard CLI.
Experience building network automation in Python and Ansible is highly desired.
Strong writing skills and ability to produce whitepapers.
Local/Regional candidates only.
Additional Information The base salary range for this role is $134,000 to $176,000. Pay ranges vary by location and are based on experience and skills. Sales roles may qualify for a discretionary bonus and equity. Employees in Sales are eligible for the Sales Incentive Plan. US‑based employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings, and income protection benefits.
