Position Summary
The Sales Director will lead all wholesale and retail sales execution for the Rizzy beverage line. This leader will activate and manage beer/wine distributor partnerships, open new markets, build retail programming, and drive aggressive volume growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, manage, and expand a network of beer/wine wholesalers across target markets.
- Identify, pitch, and onboard new distributors to support regional and national rollout.
- Train distributor reps on Rizzy products, pricing, programs, incentives, and brand story.
- Manage quarterly business reviews, pricing architecture, margins, and distributor expectations.
- Ensure velocity and pull-through via field ride-alongs, sales blitzes, and activation plans.
- Leverage existing relationships with key retail buyers—including grocery, convenience, liquor, chain retail, and on-premise—to secure placement and expand facings.
- Develop and manage relationships with regional & national decision-makers (e.g., Circle K, QT, Publix, Ingles, Total Wine, ABC stores, specialty beverage chains).
- Oversee planograms, resets, seasonal programs, and in-store merchandising.
- Lead chain sell-ins and manage category reviews.
- Build and execute a complete go-to-market strategy for Rizzy's expansion footprint.
- Establish annual sales plans, revenue goals, KPIs, and distributor programming.
- Work closely with leadership on pricing models, promotional calendars, and trade marketing.
- Forecast demand based on distributor inventory, sell-through, and regional growth patterns.
- Recruit, hire, and mentor regional sales managers, field reps, and brand ambassadors.
- Implement structured training, field execution standards, and sales accountability systems.
- Collaborate with marketing to create impactful retail/POS programs, tastings, events, and local activations to drive trial and awareness.
- Ensure flawless execution of promotions, sampling events, sponsorships, and seasonal pushes.
- Provide weekly/monthly reporting on distributor performance, sales pipeline, retail wins, and velocity.
- Track market data, competitor activity, pricing trends, and consumer insights.
- Use CRM systems to maintain accurate pipeline details and field execution metrics.
Qualifications
- 10+ years beverage industry sales experience, specifically in beer, wine, RTD, or alternative beverage categories.
- Deep existing relationships with beer & wine wholesalers (top 20 houses preferred).
- Proven track record of scaling a beverage brand and achieving volume targets.
- Strong network of retail buyer relationships across grocery, convenience, and liquor channels.
- Experienced in building distributor networks and managing large territories.
- Ability to travel frequently and work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred
- Experience in cannabis/hemp/THC beverage categories or emerging alternative beverages.
- Prior leadership role managing sales teams (RSMs, FSMs, brand reps).
- Comfort with early-stage brands and rapid scaling cycles.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements related to alternative beverages.
