Mainframe Storage Architect / Engineer Location: Plano, Texas, Richmond, VA, or Hopewell, NJ Duration: Full Time/Permanent Type: Rate: $165,000 - $175,000 Project Details We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Storage Architect/Engineer to lead and support large-scale infrastructure initiatives. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing mainframe storage environments, including upgrades, migrations, capacity planning, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on engineering expertise as well as architectural/design experience. Must-Have Skills & Experience
10+ years in Mainframe Storage Engineering & Architecture Expertise in Storage Architecture, Encryption, and Fiber Protocols (FICON) Strong background with HCD/IOCP and I/O Performance (DASD, Switches, Virtual Tape) Experience with refreshes/upgrades: Brocade directors/switches, Hitachi DASD, IBM Virtual Tape (TS7700s) Skilled in SAN replication design & configuration Capacity planning (network/switches, storage) and cost benefit analysis/consolidation/reduction Proven experience in data center migrations, role swaps, and DR exercises Responsibilities
Design and implement mainframe storage architecture solutions Lead data center move projects, including role swaps and disaster recovery Plan and execute refreshes/upgrades across storage platforms Perform capacity management and optimize cost efficiency Drive I/O performance tuning and troubleshooting across storage and network layers Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure reliable, secure storage delivery
