Associate Scientist, Product Development Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday core hours 8 am‑5 pm. 100% on‑site (San Diego).

Catalent, Inc. is a leading global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO).

Our San Delis facility focuses on early‑stage development of small‑molecule and peptide drug candidates from bench to clinic, supporting oral and injectable dosage forms with preformulation testing, formulation and analytical development, cGMP manufacturing, clinical packaging, labeling, and worldwide distribution.

The location hosts Catalent’s Spray‑Drying technologies and downstream roller compaction, supporting the most challenging compounds.

The Role

Conduct formulation development and characterization activities under supervision.

Prepare reports, summaries, protocols, batch records, and quantitative analyses.

Maintain accurate record keeping in laboratory notebooks and review colleagues’ work for scientific accuracy and compliance.

Support client interaction under supervision and develop problem‑solving skills for experimental outcomes.

Follow experimental design and execution directed by a supervisor.

Receive training on scientific techniques, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) guidance; comply with good housekeeping and safety practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

4‑year degree (Bachelor’s) in a physical, chemical, biological, or pharmaceutical science.

Formal laboratory training is highly preferred.

No experience in formulation development required; highly detail‑oriented, organized, able to work independently and as a team player with a positive attitude.

Physical requirements: ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell and lift up to 40 lb.

Specific vision requirements including reading written documents, visual inspection of materials, and computer monitor use.

Pay

Anticipated salary range in San Diego, CA: $60,000 – $74,000 annually.

Final salary depends on experience, industry background, skill set, education, and business needs.
