Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering Faculty are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that a faculty member model a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Faculty should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.

The School of Engineering is seeking an assistant professor in computer engineering to teach courses in the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Program. An ideal candidate would have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related field with expertise in the following areas: Embedded Systems, Real-Time Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Digital Logic, PCB design, and Linux Programming.

Responsibilities

Teach courses in the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Program, maintaining the integrity of course and instructional programs.

Ensure course delivery aligns with the University mission and vision for the student experience.

Create an academic atmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for individual dignity.

Assist in the development of curriculum for residential and distance education environments.

Engage in research, scholarship, or creative activity as required by the College or School.

Participate in service to students and their professional discipline.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field (or a terminal master’s degree with relevant professional experience).

Expertise in Embedded Systems, Real-Time Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Digital Logic, PCB design, and Linux Programming.

Proficiency in developing and teaching courses aligned with a biblically informed Christian worldview.

Evidence of scholarly and professional achievements.

Employment Details

Target Hire Date: 2025-12-31

Time Type: Full time

Location: Lynchburg – In Office

Contract Length: 10, 11, or 12 months (30, 33, or 36 load hours, respectively). Release from contracted teaching load is determined each semester by the Dean, per Liberty University Faculty Handbook.
