Head Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse Coach – New Jersey Association of Independent Schools (NJAIS)
The Pennington School seeks a head coach for its varsity girls’ lacrosse team. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this head coach will oversee, develop, and grow the girls’ lacrosse program. Additionally, the coach will facilitate communication with all program stakeholders, including assistant coaches, athletes, the Director of Summer Programs, faculty/staff members, and parents, and serve as an advocate and positive role model for student‑athletes.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct and organize the Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse program
Coordinate and oversee assistant coaches to ensure individual attention to all athletes
Design a strategy to expose younger players to the sport through summer programming and other initiatives
Communicate effectively with students, faculty/staff, parents, and alumni
Coordinate with the JV and Middle School coaches and teams to create a consistent program dedicated to the growth of all student‑athletes
Coordinate with the Admission Office to identify and recruit promising student‑athletes to The Pennington School
Commit to the mission and values of The Pennington School, especially as they relate to good character and sportsmanship on and off the field
Guide student‑athletes engaged in the NCAA recruitment process and work with the College Counseling Office to ensure the right college fit for each student‑athlete
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Previous experience coaching lacrosse at the high school or collegiate level
Previous high school/collegiate head coaching experience preferred
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required
Ability to foster a positive team spirit as well as individual skill improvement
Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends
First Aid and CPR training – or can be trained
A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred
Must successfully pass a New Jersey Department of Education background check
This position is part‑time during the spring athletic season. Specific dates will be determined. Seasonal coaching stipend of $8,000. Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, résumé, and salary requirements to https://pennington.isolvedhire.com/.
