Overview Senior Estimator – Suffolk, Miami, FL. The role is responsible for estimating large‑scale construction projects, managing the estimating team, and ensuring accurate and competitive bids. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in construction estimating, and a deep understanding of market conditions.

Responsibilities

Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, exceeding client expectations.

Build relationships to understand client, designer, and subcontractor needs.

Facilitate collaboration among team members and communicate with all stakeholders.

Manage Assistant Estimators and lead the estimating team, including MEP Estimators and career‑start team members.

Participate in business‑development activities, presentations, and interviews.

Develop others and act as a subject‑matter expert (SME).

Prepare an in‑house budget and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).

Prepare quantity take‑offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish value.

Understand the full scope of the project through document review and questions to the design team and owner.

Prepare value engineering and risk analysis.

Prepare qualifications and assumptions for the estimate.

Prepare cost comparisons and reconcile with previous estimates.

Reconcile with outside estimators.

Lead constructability reviews.

Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection process.

Prepare Exhibit B and/or scope sheets.

Ensure quality control of department bids and estimates.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in estimating, or equivalent.

Strong computer skills, including Excel spreadsheets and Word processing programs.

Experience with estimating software such as Timberline, OST, or MC2.

Understanding of how market conditions influence pricing.

Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods; use a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee frequently stands, walks, and reaches with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee will spend time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level, and may walk at job sites.
