What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced Structural Engineering expert to join our Infrastructure Design Engineering team. As part of the EPC group, this team is focused on designing, collaborating, and building the first home of Optimus while continuing to support critical vehicle programs.
This person will have a thorough understanding of all things related to Structural design and construction, with extensive experience with Architectural and MEP design. They will be a technical advisor providing guidance and review of conceptual through detailed designs to produce buildings and construction that are fully integrated with manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, complex projects, provide innovative solutions that are super‑efficient and robust, and be able to multi‑task and communicate risks to multiple stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
High‑level review of Structural design work to ensure every design maintains the highest level of quality and serves as Engineer of Record (EOR) for the most complex projects
Continually develop and improve upon project workflows and standards to ensure each design is consistently excellent
Provide oversight of geotechnical investigations
Provide technical expertise to the CSA design engineering team and other groups within organization, including other Engineer of Record (EOR) and Architect of Record (AOR)
Lead strategic decisions about technologies, materials, and processes, to build reliable buildings and construction that are very cost effective
Ensure design satisfies the construction requirements and is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations that are relevant to the project
Support construction activities by providing field construction review and design guidance
Provide peer review and mentorship of junior engineers
Ability to guide others and take leadership on projects of varying complexity
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering or equivalent experience
At least 12 years of experience with increasing responsibility
Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) required
Hands‑on experience including design and construction
Ability to adapt, multi‑task, and prioritize work in a fast‑paced environment with evolving changes in design requirements
Work well under pressure and can work with multiple large teams at the same time
Ability to interface and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines
Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam

Expected Compensation $148,000 – $258,000 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
