Homes.com – Manager, Software Engineering CoStar Group is a leading global real estate information and marketplace provider. Homes.com, a CoStar Group company, is one of the fastest growing real estate portals. We are looking for a Manager of Software Engineering with operational expertise, project management experience, and a technical leadership background.

Role Overview Located in Arlington, VA, the role will operate on a 4‑day onsite schedule Monday‑Thursday with Fridays worked from home. The Manager will lead backend engineering teams focused on marketplace services while driving operational excellence and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

– Manage and mentor software engineers working on backend services, APIs, and operational tooling for the Homes.com marketplace.

Project Management

– Plan, prioritize, and execute software projects using Agile methodologies; manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.

Business Analysis

– Gather and analyze requirements from Product and Operations teams; translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable tasks.

Operational Reliability

– Drive initiatives to improve uptime, scalability, and incident response for listing ingestion, search services, and customer‑facing APIs.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

– Work closely with Product, Data Operations, and Infrastructure teams to align engineering priorities with marketplace growth goals.

Compliance & Security

– Ensure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory standards across all marketplace services.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.

6+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.

Proven experience in project management and/or business analysis within technology environments.

Strong understanding of operational processes, Agile methodologies, and SDLC.

Experience with API design, microservices architecture, and large‑scale data ingestion.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

Background in operations or process optimization within a technology environment.

Familiarity with observability tools, incident management, and operational dashboards.

Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking.

Certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or CBAP are a plus.
