We’re looking for an object‑oriented Senior Software Engineer who takes pride in backend development and wants to contribute to building innovative, scalable applications that provide a great user experience. The role will help develop the next generation of residential products, apps, and services and will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company and the real‑estate industry.
Location:
Arlington, VA – in‑office Monday to Thursday with the option to work from home on Friday.
Responsibilities
Design and develop high‑performance web applications used by hundreds of thousands of users globally.
Apply object‑oriented design principles and software design patterns to achieve high reusability and maintainability.
Promote consistent architecture patterns for design and development across development teams.
Collaborate closely with other Software Engineers and teams across the organization.
Advocate standards‑driven technology practices.
Facilitate discussions among .NET and database developers to exchange new ideas and improvements.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that strengthen CoStar’s technology platform.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Track record of commitment to prior employers and strong work ethic.
5+ years of production‑level development experience with C#, .NET (or .NET Core), and/or Java.
Experience delivering products that meet specifications and performance SLAs.
Experience with unit, performance, and automation testing.
Deep understanding of business drivers for the software you build.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Experience in relational database design (AWS RDS, MS SQL) including performance tuning.
Knowledge of AWS services such as S3, Step Functions, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Apache Kafka, and Datadog.
A demonstrable track record of building and launching successful products and platforms.
