LDRP model: RN cares for
laboring, postpartum, well mom, and well baby High-risk and critical OB patients Inductions Hypertensive crisis management Hemorrhage protocols No twins or triplets Patients stabilized and transferred as needed RNs serve as
newborn nurse for C-sections
(do not circulate) Care for
couplets (mom & baby)
during first few hours post-delivery Experience & Required Skills
Minimum:
2 years LDRP experience
Strong L&D experience required Will consider candidates with strong recent L&D experience
plus some LDRP or postpartum experience within recent years
Must Have Skills:
Newborn stabilization Ability to manage laboring patients
autonomously and independently Comfortable working with OB not in-house (especially nights/weekends)
Drips & Medications
RN Titration Required:
Yes Common Drips:
Magnesium sulfate Pitocin Insulin (if stabilizing prior to transfer)
Provider Coverage
OB:
Not in-house In clinic Monday–Friday On-call and called in for laboring patients
Neonatal/Pediatrics:
Pediatric physician on-site M–F (days) for newborns On-call nights and weekends
Anesthesia:
On-call after hours 30-minute response time
