Description of Work This Team Leader position is responsible for directing and training other Food Service Assistants. The role includes:
Managing a satellite kitchen, receiving bulk food from the Main Kitchen, and performing final preparation or cooking.
Monitoring food temperatures, plating meals to meet specific diet orders, and following safe food‑handling policies.
Assisting trainer staff in kitchens as needed and providing snacks and medically ordered nourishment for residents.
Maintaining proper food storage, labeling, and a clean, safe kitchen environment.
Ordering and replenishing stock items, washing and storing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and appliances.
Preparing and cooking a variety of foods (steaming, baking, boiling, broiling, frying, grilling) to meet production schedules.
Making mechanical modifications to prepared food when required and ensuring workstation and equipment are cleaned and sanitized.
Providing appropriate interaction with residents and co‑workers and assisting with orientation, training, and guidance of other Food Service Assistants.
Being flexible to work in other departmental areas as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences Salary Range: $26,851.00 – $46,991.00 Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 – $46,991.00
Preferred Skills:
Education and/or experience in food service with a focus on medical diets, directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
Ability to use various computer programs such as e‑mail, Microsoft Word, and Excel, as well as general office equipment.
Physical Requirements Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingertip picking, typing, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs of occasional force and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Visual acuity required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work.
Shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm) Monday – Friday & every other weekend
