As the Head of AI Platform Engineering, you will provide executive leadership to build and scale world‑class AI solutions and infrastructure across GE Vernova’s global operations. Strategic Leadership & Vision: Drive the strategic vision for enterprise AI platform capabilities, ensuring scalable, secure, maintainable and innovative solutions that streamline operations, eliminate complexity, and accelerate business outcomes. This role requires deep expertise in AI/ML technologies, cloud platform engineering, and enterprise‑scale software development to lead teams delivering cutting‑edge solutions. Platform Scale & Impact: Spearhead the build‑out of GE Vernova’s AI platform and the applications supporting 100K+ daily users. As AI transforms how employees work and products deliver value, you will be the catalyst driving platform adoption and software excellence across Vernova’s business units. Security & Compliance Excellence: All delivery must align with responsible AI principles, robust project governance, CISO/CTO requirements. Candidates must demonstrate proven experience with secure handling of sensitive data, including export control compliance, CMMC standards, and CUI protocols. Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

Establish and direct a world‑class AI platform engineering organization capable of delivering enterprise‑scale AI infrastructure, tools, and services. Define and execute a comprehensive AI platform strategy aligned with company‑wide digital transformation and AI initiatives. Establish the vision for next‑generation AI services, including cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and model integration. Champion responsible AI principles and establish governance frameworks ensuring ethical, transparent, and compliant AI solutions across the enterprise. Define comprehensive data strategy for AI initiatives, including secure handling of sensitive data, export control compliance, CMMC requirements, and CUI data governance. Partner with AI leaders across the company to build out GE Vernova’s AI strategy, focusing on platform and software capabilities to accelerate deployment. Present strategy and updates to CEOs and staff. Build strategic partnerships with hyperscalers to ensure our platform has secure access to the latest AI services, compute, and LLMs. Lead strategic partnerships with consulting organizations to augment our staff to deliver AI applications for GE Vernova. Technical Excellence

Oversee the design and implementation of a scalable AI platform supporting diverse use cases from proof of concept to production serving tens of thousands of users across cloud and on‑premises environments. Lead teams of internal hires and contractors responsible for building end‑to‑end pipelines and apps for delivery. Architect and deliver reusable responsible AI services and components including bias detection, explainability tools, model monitoring, and governance frameworks that business units can leverage for compliant AI deployment. Establish technical standards for AI infrastructure including compute orchestration (GitOps), modern cloud‑native practices, and secure on‑premises AI capabilities. Orchestrate enterprise adoption of AI‑assisted development practices and emerging AI technologies including LLMs and emerging AI paradigms. Ensure platform reliability, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulations including export control, CMMC, and CUI data handling requirements. Operational Excellence

Provide executive oversight of multiple teams globally, including large contractor groups across AI infrastructure, platform services, apps. Implement and scale agile methodologies. Establish KPIs and metrics to measure platform adoption and drive governance. Build partnerships with cloud providers, technology vendors, and open‑source communities. Drive cost optimization strategies for AI compute resources and infrastructure (FinOps). Innovation & Transformation

Lead investment in architecture and software to deliver enterprise‑wide AI transformation initiatives to accelerate AI adoption across business units. Identify and incubate emerging technologies that could transform the AI platform landscape. Job Characteristics

Job Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM field required; Master’s or PhD preferred. 15+ years of senior leadership experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure. Executive‑level strategic planning and execution experience. 5+ years of hands‑on experience with cloud technologies and platforms. 5+ years of experience leading teams of 50+ engineers across multiple disciplines. Proven track record of building and scaling apps in enterprise environments. Proven success in enterprise digital transformation initiatives. Experience developing and deploying AI applications. Technical Expertise

Expertise in cloud‑native architectures and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools. Experience with distributed computing frameworks and big data technologies. Strong foundation in software engineering principles, microservices, and API design. Experience with hybrid cloud and on‑premises AI infrastructure management. Knowledge of responsible AI frameworks, model governance, bias mitigation, and explainability solutions. Experience with sensitive data handling including export control, CMMC compliance, and CUI data governance in AI environments. Leadership Competencies

Exceptional communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical strategies to executive audiences. Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent. The salary range for this position is $200,000 to $290,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s geographic location, experience, education, skill set, and work location. This position is also eligible for variable incentive compensation and equity. Benefits include health and additional benefits.
