Senior Structural Engineer

in buildings. This position is technical in nature with both project execution and mentoring of less experienced engineers expected.

Your work environment at EXP In this role, you will be a key part of a

focused team and reporting to the discipline Director(s). The selected candidate’s location is flexible; preferred locations include Chicago, St. Louis, Columbus, Atlanta, Dallas, and Bedminster, with additional locations discussed for qualified candidates. The

Building Structures

team executes projects throughout the United States and several US Territories, with opportunities to provide technical support to non‑US based teams.

The successful candidate will work independently as well as with a diverse in‑house team and/or sub‑consultants nationwide, providing technical expertise and mentoring to less experienced team members. They will engage in a variety of project types across mission critical facilities, aviation, and general building design.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Assist less experienced staff with all aspects of design, drawing development, and construction administration.

Participate in quality assurance initiatives and quality control procedures.

Self‑perform or assist others in performing required work from schematic design through construction administration.

Conduct calculations, sketches, drawing production, specifications, and multi‑discipline coordination on a regular basis.

Observe and evaluate existing conditions in both the field and via historical drawings.

Work on multiple projects concurrently, coordinating with multiple EXP offices and outside consultants.

Occasional short‑term travel to project sites, usually a single night or two at a time.

What Your Experience Looks Like

Master’s degree in Structural Engineering strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures is the minimum.

12+ years of experience focused on building design.

Proficient in structural analysis software such as RAM, RISA, and ETABS.

Adequate Revit skills, including navigation, modeling, and sheet creation.

Licensure as a Structural Engineer via the required structural examinations (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write persuasively and communicate technical subject matter concisely to a less technical audience.

The base pay range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location.
