Princess Cruises, one of the world’s leading premium cruise lines, invites applications for the Senior Electrical Superintendent position. The role oversees planning, maintenance, and lifecycle management of electrical systems across the fleet, providing leadership to onboard electro‑technical teams and ensuring compliance with Class, Flag, Corporate, and all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Strategic Technical Oversight
Lead technical performance and operational readiness across the fleet, ensuring safety, environmental, and performance requirements are met; direct dry‑dock and wet‑dock projects within budget and timelines; develop vessel‑specific strategies integrated with fleet initiatives; identify risks and opportunities to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Operational and Budgetary Management
Manage all electrical repair and maintenance budgets (OPEX & CAPEX); develop annual budgets, monitor expenditures, investigate variances, and collaborate with finance for transparency; approve requisitions, evaluate cost‑effectiveness, enforce procurement protocols, and delegate purchasing while retaining final accountability.
Cross‑Functional Leadership and Collaboration
Serve as the primary liaison between shipboard teams and shore‑side departments (Fleet Operations, Technical Supply Chain, Hotel Technical, Brand stakeholders); coordinate initiatives such as upgrades, vendor evaluations, and compliance projects, ensuring alignment of goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure vessels meet or exceed regulatory and classification society requirements by overseeing certifications, audits, and corrective actions; schedule and execute ship visits, surveys, and inspections; lead implementation of Global HESS and SMS protocols.
Continuous Improvement and Technical Innovation
Drive improvement by analyzing performance data, addressing maintenance trends, and reducing recurring issues; lead initiatives to enhance planned maintenance, adopt innovative solutions, and evaluate new technologies and vendors for lifecycle optimization; mentor junior superintendents and support onboarding of electrical teams.
Requirements
8+ years of experience as electrical superintendent or as head of the electrical department on large passenger vessels or equivalent maritime environments; preferred: shipboard experience on a cruise vessel.
Management of a vessel’s maintenance program.
Familiarity with application of Class Society and Flag State rules.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Management or equivalent maritime qualification.
HND Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Electro‑Technical Officer Certificate of Competency / Chief Electrical Officer / 1st Electrical Officer.
6‑year degree in Electrical engineering, Electrical management, or equivalent seagoing experience.
Project Management skills and experience.
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and PC skills.
Strong knowledge of different technologies; ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and work under pressure and time constraints.
Self‑starter with excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Hybrid work schedule: three days in the office per week (Tuesday–Thursday). Beginning in 2028 the position will transition to the new headquarters in the Miami, FL area.
