Our client is a full-service accounting and advisory firm headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, with offices in Nevada and New York. They serve clients in local, national, and international markets, offering a broad spectrum of services tailored to meet the evolving and complex needs of today’s financial landscape.

They are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their growing firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with 5+ years of public accounting experience who values technical excellence, client service, and leadership. The firm serves a diverse client base including privately held businesses, real estate entities, investment funds, private foundations, and high‑net‑worth individuals.

In this role, you will take ownership of client engagements, mentor and develop staff, and work closely with firm leadership on both client strategy and firm growth. You’ll be supported by experienced partners who are invested in your development while giving you the autonomy to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the

primary owner of client engagements , overseeing scheduling, staffing, deadlines, and technical quality

Review complex tax returns and related workpapers across multiple entity types

Proactively

identify and resolve technical issues

with minimal oversight

Lead, mentor, and develop staff, including training, reviewing work, and providing actionable feedback

Manage staff performance through ongoing coaching and formal evaluations

Build and maintain long‑term client relationships through responsiveness, professionalism, and trusted advisory

Partner with firm leadership on business development and client growth initiatives

Stay current on tax law changes through ongoing training and professional development

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation

Active CPA license required

5+ years of tax experience

in public accounting, including recent Manager‑level responsibility

Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills

Proven ability to manage client relationships and staff simultaneously

Compensation $115,000 – $210,000 , commensurate with experience, plus competitive bonus and benefits package.
