The School Principal is responsible to lead the development of the Pre‑K through 8 programs of Calvary Christian Academy so as to ensure that students grow spiritually, academically, and socially. Successful performance results in glory to God and making disciples of Jesus Christ. Scope
The specific focus of this position is to devise and oversee the implementation of plans, programs, policies, and procedures consistent with God’s Word after consulting with key Calvary Chapel and Academy staff. This position interacts with all members of the Calvary Christian Academy community to communicate, consult, instruct, encourage, correct, and counsel in order to accomplish ministry goals and objectives. Responsibilities
Provide motivation, direction, and instruction for elementary assistant principal, elementary school teachers, administrative assistants and teacher assistants to accomplish their professional duties and personal commitment/devotion to Jesus Christ. Develop policies, plans and procedures related to the elementary program in consultation with staff and overseer to effect smooth, safe, efficient and effective operation of the elementary school consistent with God’s Word. Conduct parent/teacher/student conferences to handle issues. Assist in hiring and termination of staff in coordination with the overseer. Make decisions relating to a wide range of student situations including injury, sickness, student discipline, and staff and parent needs. Act as extension coordinator by being a contact person between CCA and other Christian schools and by offering support to other Christian schools. Oversee teacher observations. Oversee annual academic and spiritual goals of assigned faculty Meets with team leaders to facilitate communication and collaboration. Develop and oversee ESE program in consultation with ESE Coordinator. Periodically attend team meetings. Meet with parents indicating serious spiritual concerns to provide support and accountability. Participates in the professional development and accreditation process for the school's continuous improvement plan. Ensures that potentially objectionable curricular materials, especially in English and science, are approved before they’re utilized. Ensure the effective scheduling of staff. Ensure adherence to overtime worked by administrative approval only. Collaborate in hiring and termination of staff in coordination with the Executive Pastor, including interviewing, recommending compensation, and facilitating the staff selection process. Ensures adequate and orderly storage of student materials/possessions (i.e.: book bags, textbooks, sweaters, etc.). Conducts admissions interviews and compiles documentation basing recommendations of expulsion. Conducts fact‑finding relative to potential child abuse and neglect reporting. Consults with Exec. Pastor and designated Calvary Chapel staff in determining course of action. Ensures adequate and orderly storage of student materials/possessions (i.e.: book bags, textbooks, sweaters, etc.). Ensures effective supervision of the cafeteria. Approves field trips and ensures their safety and appropriate administration. Oversee Chapel Oversee class placement meetings Prepare CCA Orientation Days Oversee BTSN Prepare PMD Schedule in collaboration with other staff New Staff Orientation Coordinator Classroom Preview Day Coordinator Create Schedule Overseer Approval Materials -Faculty Handbook, Parent/Student Handbook, Sign‑ins Tech Training Be present at AM/PM supervision. Oversee & conduct staff meetings. Review quarterly report cards. Oversee review and initial authorization of purchase orders. Attend Parent Teacher Fellowship events. Faculty development goals: classroom management and instructional methods/practices and appropriate data objectives Ensures timely and appropriate reporting of all injuries by staff. Assists in development and control of annual budget Qualifications/Skills/Gifts
Knowledge and ability to apply God’s Word A strong commitment to the philosophies and mission of Calvary Chapel as well as the educational philosophies of Calvary Christian Academy. Faithful, prayerful, persevering. Strong interpersonal skills with regard to children, their parents, and colleagues. Spiritual gifts of administration, leadership, teaching, discernment, service and exhortation. Prior experience in school administration, at least 3 years full‑time teaching experience, ministry experience, and participation at Calvary Chapel preferred. Master Degree in Education.
