Job Description:
- The Phlebotomist I represents the face of the organization to patients, collecting quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
- This role involves direct patient interaction, ensuring trust, confidence, safety, and accuracy.
- The Phlebotomist I follows established procedures, maintains professionalism, and contributes to a positive patient experience while supporting daily operational needs.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
- Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of experience.
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard and data entry experience required.
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Create an atmosphere of trust while explaining procedures and collecting specimens safely and accurately.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy skills across various age groups.
- Customer service skills.
- Data entry and computer proficiency.
- Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
