Pay Range: $22.24hr - $24hr
  • The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting, labeling, and processing specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
  • This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent patient interaction skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance standards.
  • The candidate should be proficient in performing venipuncture and other specimen collection techniques while ensuring accurate data entry and documentation.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients.
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Verify and understand physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test order requirements.
  • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity and temperature requirements.
  • Store samples in appropriate containers and follow specific transport procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department training sessions.
  • Answer phone calls and provide laboratory results as required.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
  • 1.5 years of experience in Phlebotomy preferred.
  • Experience working with various patient types and performing hard sticks.
  • Experience handling urine, thyroid testing, and specimen processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry skills.
Skills:
  • Phlebotomy (venipuncture and specimen handling).
  • Computer literacy and data entry accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult blood draws ( hard sticks ) efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
