What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to lead NVH for our high-volume automated functional test equipment (such as dynamometers) with the Drive Unit Test team in Palo Alto, CA. You will work closely with Tesla's internal Product Design, Production and Quality Engineering teams and lead cross-functional activities to deploy new Drive Unit NVH test systems. You will assume full ownership of the design, development, and optimization of the NVH test process along with leading the technical transfer of the knowledge to Tesla factory teams so they can own and sustain long term.
What You'll Do
Develop, improve and documentNVHtest profiles and metric calculations to detect defects and optimize production yield for our drive unit products globally
Analyze productionNVHdata to identify expected and actual impacts of product design changes and ensure seamless integration with drive unit design and factory teams
Correlate NVH data with mechanical and electrical system behaviors along with vehicle-level performance to define objective metric limits
Support equipment development of our productionNVHTesters (Dynos)
Collaborate with the product design, supply chain, and factory teams to drive improvements in our products and factories
What You'll Bring
Strong understanding of acoustics and vibration principles like order analysis, modal analysis, digital signal processing and sound quality metrics
Experience specifying, validating and working with NVH test equipment including impact hammers, shakers, PU probes, accelerometers and microphones and software (Signal X, LMS Testlab)
Familiarity with CAN-based data acquisition and processing
Experience analyzing large data sets to process improvements (SQL, Python, JMP, Minitab)
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalentexperience

Expected Compensation $84,000 - $276,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
