Structural Inspector (Construction)

About the Job GPI is seeking a full‑time Structural Inspector for our New England branch. This ideal person can be based in our Wilmington, MA, or Boston, MA, office. GPI offers flexible work schedules with the ability to split time between working in the office and from home. This position provides an exceptional opportunity for career growth as the selected candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities and the ability to influence the success of our people and projects.
In this role, you will enjoy working with an exceptional and collaborative team of professionals. You will lead the inspections of in‑service infrastructure such as bridges and culverts, report their condition, and recommend repairs. You will serve an essential role as the team leader in the planning and executing structural inspections. You will lead a team of inspection members and help grow our New England structural inspection practice.
Responsibilities
Perform on-site structural condition inspections on highway and railroad bridges and culverts in accordance with industry and client standards.
Assist in the preparation of Bridge Load Ratings.
Work independently and as a team member.
Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
Prepare reports to document observed conditions and recommend repairs.
Operate access equipment such as mobile elevated work platforms, aerial drones, and remotely operated underwater vehicles.
Perform quality reviews of bridge inspection report narratives, sketches, photos, and basic repair and rehabilitation cost estimates.
Requirements
0-5 years of experience conducting structural inspections.
Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related field.
Ability to work at height and adjacent to active traffic.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
EIT Certificate or Professional Engineering License.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Rope access credentials.
Aerial drone pilot license.
NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.
NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical (NSTM) course.
Recreational or commercial diving certifications (plus).
