Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations within a construction-focused environment in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role is integral to ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and the effective management of accounting processes. Ideal candidates will bring expertise in construction accounting practices and possess strong leadership skills to support a dynamic team. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee general ledger management and handle timely month-end closing processes.
- Manage job cost accounting, work-in-progress schedules, and project financial tracking.
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts while monitoring project budgets for variances.
- Ensure compliance with construction industry standards and implement internal controls.
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, including subcontractor payments and client billing.
- Review lien waivers, retainage, and progress billing documentation for accuracy.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering collaboration with project managers and operational staff.
- Coordinate audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations. Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Prior experience in construction accounting or related industry required.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
