Salary: $90,000-$110,000
Location: Frederick, MD
Office Situation: 100% onsite for the first 3 months; potential for limited hybrid (1-2 days/week) thereafter

This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on leader who wants both ownership and strategic influence in a growing, values-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll coordination, cash management, and general ledger
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; prepare financial statements and reporting packages
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts in partnership with leadership
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, support audits, and ensure GAAP compliance
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff; lead process improvements and special projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Finance considered with strong accounting experience)
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- 3+ years management/supervisory experience
- Hands-on experience in AP, AR, payroll coordination, reconciliations, JE, and full close
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting
- Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Desktop
- Strong communication and sound judgment; must collaborate closely with leadership
Preferred (Bonus, Not Required):
- Grants experience (state-level or similar)
- Background in a small-company or nonprofit environment
- CPA or working toward CPA
