Job Summary The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure the efficient and effective reprocessing, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role involves supervising staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with other departments to support patient care and safety. The Sterile Processing Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring that all instruments and equipment are sterile, well-maintained, and available as needed. Apply By Date:

Key Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Base Certification requirement: CRCST from Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or CSPDT from The Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Advanced Requirement: Must complete and hold an advanced certification from either HSPA or CBSPD within 6 months of hire. Advanced Certification may be: CIS (HSPA), CSIS (CBSPD), CER (HSPA), CFER (CBSPD), CHL (HSPA), CSPM (CBSPD). Must maintain certification by completing CEUs and renewing as a condition of employment. High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience or training At least five (5) years of recent experience in a similar Central Processing Unit setting Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience adhering to American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommended practices Knowledge of AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) Recommended practices on care of instruments and processing Strong attention to detail, quality, and thoroughness to complete work in a timely and accurate manner Independent critical thinking and initiative to recognize, identify and solve problems with potential impact to others, patients, and customers Experience using Central Processing Unit programs and computers including instrument tracking, email, spreadsheets, and word processing Ability to apply policy and procedure when making decisions Ability to identify, analyze and report problems accurately and timely Ability to exercise sound judgment to escalate unusual or unexpected situations Ability to plan and organize workflow to meet turnaround times and deadlines Ability to prioritize work to meet administrative deadlines Ability to develop creative solutions and work independently Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Effective written and verbal communication with internal and external customers Professional, respectful and service-oriented interaction with hospital staff and community Preferred Qualifications One (1) to two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role

Department Overview
Sterile Processing is a department within Perioperative Services that supports 40 plus operating rooms by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation, flexible scopes and case cart assembly. The Central Processing Department supports Patient Care Services, Ambulatory Services and the Primary Care Network by cleaning and disinfecting reusable equipment and sterilizing surgical instrumentation used by these services. Central Processing cleans and restocks emergency crash carts, PAPR supply carts, first responder bags, airway boxes and ICU transport bags. Seattle tones of fiscal, materials, and human resources to support planning and coordination of surgical care and other patient care.
