Job Overview The Instrument Test Technician performs production assembly operations along with complete system analysis, testing, and performance optimization of moderately complex instruments. This role includes basic electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve test equipment issues based on defined pass/fail criteria. The technician identifies defects, escalates issues as needed, and supports continuous improvement efforts while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Build, integrate, and understand the full assembly process for instruments in the production area Perform functional and release testing on at least one moderately complex instrument Analyze test data and results to determine pass/fail outcomes and recommend corrective actions Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, or software issues on non-functioning equipment Optimize system performance, including precision movement and/or light systems Identify defects and recommend design or process improvements Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards Provide training and guidance to associates on mechanical and testing activities Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing teams as needed Perform standard material handling for raw materials and sub-assemblies Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment through proper housekeeping Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety policies, and quality procedures Complete work in accordance with company specifications, operating procedures, and policies Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications Education & Experience Associate’s Degree in Mechatronics or a related technical field

Required Skills & Competencies Ability to support testing for moderately complex instruments Fundamental knowledge of mechanical tools (torque drivers, gauges, bits, etc.) Proficiency in reading technical drawings and measuring dimensions Strong analytical, math, and problem-solving skills Basic PC skills and familiarity with Windows operating environments Ability to manage time across multiple production orders Strong attention to quality, detail, and safety Effective communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt to frequent assignment changes Proven leadership potential with the ability to mentor and train others Commitment to Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices
Additional Requirements Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, and comprehension) Must be able to work overtime as required to meet business needs Must comply with all safety, housekeeping, and quality policies
