Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role requiring a compact or OH RN license and previous travel nursing experience.
Responsibilities Work in a 41-bed Emergency Department within a hospital setting Serve a primarily adult patient population with approximately 5% pediatric visits Handle over 40,000 patient visits annually with more than 1,100 EMS visits per month Perform duties involving critical care drips, ventilators, and use of ultrasound, Philips Cardiac Monitoring, stretchers, and portable suctions Every third weekend and holiday rotation are required No on-call responsibilities Shifts are mid-shift, including options of 10A-10P, 11A-11P, and 1P-1A Duties include assessment, care planning, administering medications, and coordinating patient care throughout the hospital Collaborate with an interprofessional team including ED Techs and HUCs; RT support is available but not staffed 24/7 Provide emergency care from non-urgent to life-threatening cases, including medical illness, trauma, pediatric, geriatric, and mental health situations Participation in ongoing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives is expected Study guides for EKG testing will be provided Scrub attire is required First time travelers are not considered for this role
Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required Current ACLS and PALS certifications required; CEN and NIHSS preferred Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department experience required, 3+ years preferred Prior travel nursing experience in the Emergency Department is required Must pass a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam on the first day, with up to 2 attempts allowed Experience with critical drips, lines, and emergency procedures needed Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
