Azure Cloud Architect
Location: Richmond, VA
Salary: $140,000 - $160,000
Ideal Candidate Profile Seeking an Azure Cloud Architect with a proven track record of designing, implementing, and securing large-scale cloud infrastructures. This individual combines deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure with strong architectural vision, business acumen, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Advise agency on architecture and security concerns related to Azure, including in‑place migrations/refactoring.
Recommend lift‑and‑shift and on‑premise-to‑cloud‑native migrations.
Recommend refactoring within Azure environment.
Conduct testing within Azure to demonstrate minimal viable product of an architecture.
Understand available offerings from COV, MSI, and other connected parties.
Make configurations to Azure services to support agency‑level objectives.
Sign Non‑Disclosure Agreement.
Required Skills & Experience
Microsoft Certification in Azure Solutions Architect
Strong knowledge of cloud fundamentals.
Knowledge of single and multi‑cloud strategies and implications.
Experience designing cloud solutions that meet business requirements.
Experience with Azure network and storage architectures.
Experience with Azure services (e.g., Azure Key Vault, Entra ID).
Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Web App / App Service, Containers, micro‑services architecture, and server‑less architecture.
Demonstrated knowledge of cloud security principles (zero‑trust, network segmentation, just‑in‑time access, conditional access).
Experience architecting solutions that meet RPO and RTO objectives in Azure.
Ability to write professional documentation, including position papers and architecture documentation.
Experience managing cloud‑based security posture activities such as vulnerability remediation and perimeter defense architecture.
Knowledge of DevOps tools like Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
Experience with data storage products such as SQL Server, Oracle, Cosmos DB.
Strong communication skills with both technical and business staff.
