Corporate Accounting Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant provides general accounting support, maintains accounts and ledgers, prepares journal entries, conducts research to ensure balance sheet reconciliations are properly completed, and provides ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
Essential Job Functions
Prepares month‑end general ledger journal entries and performs reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare general ledger journal entries.
Performs analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts to aid in the review of accounting activity for the period.
Prepares and reviews financial statements for accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all relevant information.
Communicates with business owners to ensure appropriate information is recorded and issues are resolved.
Independently takes the initiative to ensure work is completed on time and issues are resolved timely.
Assists with establishing, modifying, documenting, and coordinating implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
Provides general accounting support to business owners. Prepares selected work papers for various audits, including internal, external and state specific audits.
Ensures GAAP compliance with all assigned areas and other audit requirements.
Performs other related duties and activities as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and Experience
Bachelors of Science degree, ideally in Accounting, Finance or other related business field
1‑2 years’ experience in accounting
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
None required
Other Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of general accounting
Experience with Oracle or other G/L accounting software preferred
Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel and Microsoft Office programs
Ability to effectively and efficiently compile, organize and analyze extensive data
Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
Excellent verbal, written communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization
Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
Ability to work quickly, logically and accurately
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail and consistent follow‑through

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
