The Cleveland Clinic’s Research and Innovation and Education Institute is a core component of the institution’s mission, focused on advancing medical knowledge and patient care through research, education, and translating scientific discoveries into practical applications.

Responsibilities

Apply advanced statistical, mathematical and machine learning techniques to develop algorithms and conduct complex data analyses.

Collaborate closely with the research team, serve alongside the Data Lab, and contribute to the growth of DDSI research.

Lead by training, mentoring and guiding team members, supporting advancement of NCI trials and other research initiatives.

Utilize AI, ML, DL, NLP techniques to design and implement data solutions.

Build complex predictive models, mixed models, attribution models, and other mathematical or statistical models as required.

Develop novel algorithms and high‑level data analyses that integrate implementation, visualization and database management of multi‑dimensional clinical or biological datasets.

Communicate and present research findings to the Principal Investigator, broader research community and professional forums.

Pull, clean and manage data from multiple sources and databases to support ongoing research and machine learning initiatives.

Collaborate closely with Dr. Li’s team and the Data Lab to process research data, including projects on cancer diagnostics and other clinical studies.

Contribute to innovative projects such as building platforms that streamline clinical workflows (e.g., reading and summarizing faxes in EPIC).

Support machine learning models that continuously ingest data to improve predictive accuracy and algorithm performance.

Work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment, contributing to growth and success of DDSI research initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 years of experience in statistical modeling, machine learning or complex data analysis, with a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Econometrics, Physics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance or related field.

Master’s degree may offset 2 years of experience; PhD may offset 3 years.

Highly proficient programming skills in SAS, SQL, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB or similar.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Project Management skills.

Experience in machine learning and data analytics.

Healthcare or clinical background.

Experience with Python and/or R.

Physical Requirements

Work in a stationary position for extended periods.

Operate a computer and other office equipment.

Communicate and exchange accurate information.

Travel throughout the hospital system if required.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range Minimum Annual Salary: $84,200.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $128,412.50

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not include the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
