Manager, Counsel: Servicing and Servicing Strategy (Hybrid)
Capital One's growing Legal department
will allow you to showcase your talents in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
In this role you will partner with Capital One servicing to understand business intent, assess legal and business risks, review contracts and servicing materials, and work with compliance, risk, and other legal teams to develop cutting‑edge, compliant programs.
You will also support the consumer and small‑business legal team, providing legal support to the Capital One card business and building relationships across the Legal department.
Responsibilities
Identify and assess legal risks associated with Capital One credit card products and related operations, including contracts, servicing materials, and new technologies.
Translate laws and legal requirements for business teams and provide business‑oriented legal counsel.
Ensure timely support to meet regulatory and business requirements.
Engage with colleagues to provide collaborative, cross‑functional legal support.
Partner with business counsel and legal experts to drive consistency and best practices.
Collaborate closely with Compliance and Risk advisors to provide comprehensive support.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
At least 3 years of attorney experience in a law firm, government agency, military judge advocate, or in‑house counsel.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of experience in financial services legal practice.
Proficiency with consumer financial regulatory laws.
Familiarity with emerging technologies in consumer financial services and ability to assess associated legal risks.
Experience reviewing, drafting, and interpreting complex commercial agreements and mitigating legal and operational risk.
Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to dynamic change.
