Manager, Counsel: Servicing and Servicing Strategy (Hybrid)

This role is an opportunity to use your breadth of legal experience to strategize and influence management and the business lines you support. You will partner with the servicing business, assess legal and business risks, and help the team mitigate risk and reach business goals. The position is hybrid – you will spend 3 days per week in an office.
Responsibilities
Identify and assess legal risks associated with Capital One credit card products and related business operations, including contracts, servicing materials, and new technologies.
Translate laws and legal requirements for business teams and clarify business intent for the legal team and legal subject matter experts.
Ensure timely support to meet regulatory and business requirements.
Actively engage with colleagues to provide legal support as part of a collaborative cross‑functional team.
Partner with internal business counsel and legal subject matter experts to drive consistency and best practices.
Collaborate closely with Compliance and Risk advisors to deliver comprehensive, consistent support.
Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing of at least one state bar.
At least 3 years of experience as an attorney in a law firm, government agency, military judge advocate, or in‑house counsel.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
Proficiency with consumer financial regulatory laws.
Familiarity with emerging technologies in consumer financial services and the ability to assess associated legal risks.
Experience reviewing, drafting, and interpreting complex commercial agreements and mitigating legal and operational risk.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Analytical and organizational skills.
Salary and Compensation Chicago, IL: $144,000 – $164,400
McLean, VA: $158,400 – $180,800
Richmond, VA: $144,000 – $164,400
Riverwoods, IL: $144,000 – $164,400
Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
