Join our first-class team to reinvent in-flight experience. In the role of Manufacturing Engineer II you'll play a pivotal part on our engineering team. Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer defines the production process flow and production line structure for Design Engineering, QA and Operational Excellence. Improves operations by supporting production elements mainly through Bill of Materials, routers and work instructions. Contributes to optimizing manufacturing resource usage through continuous improvement. Provides moderately complex technical deliverables during the manufacturing (production) engineering phase such as production documentation, industrial validation process. Provides high level input to design engineering to improve product design for ease of manufacturing, optimization of cost, weight reduction and time-to-manufacture product. In product design phase: performs technical analysis that demonstrates production constraints and opportunities are recognized and addressed; evaluates the current state of industrial capacity and capability relative to program requirements; proposes changes to program plans to ensure that production cost, quality and delivery objectives can be met. Identifies and justifies capital expense and infrastructure investments and oversees their implementation. Reviews complex 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturability. Performs complex time studies, develops multi‑tier work breakdown structures, develops detailed work instructions and contributes to development of specifications. Develops and maintains industrialization metrics in line with Cabin standard KPIs and communicates performance on a regular basis. Collaborates with other engineering disciplines to provide costing and bids and proposals submitted to customers. Ensures that Lean principles are used to impact programs or production lines. Ensures application of regulatory requirements, customer specifications and company specifications. Applies concepts of machining, assembly lines, BOM creation and production line layout. Is proficient with most site manufacturing procedures. Applies concepts of engineering drawings and 3D models relating to manufacturability. Has proficiency with assembly line layout and design, and composites manufacturing. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field. Experience: Minimum 5 years related experience in a highly regulated engineering design or production environment. Computer skills: Working knowledge with ERP systems; working knowledge of 3D CAD preferred; good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Other skills: Experience working at an aircraft or other aerospace OEM; troubleshooting electromechanical components; experience soldering and/or riveting preferred; experience working in an assembly environment; ability to draft work instructions; significant knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry; proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and models; use of LEAN tools like VSM, 5S, FMEA, and process maps; proven organization and communication skills; ability to work well independently and cross-functionally with minimal oversight.
