Chief Financial Officer
Our client, a mission‑driven nonprofit in Brooklyn, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead all aspects of financial strategy, reporting, and controls for a multi‑program human services organization focused on addressing homelessness, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, substance abuse, unemployment, and the shortage of affordable housing.
Responsibilities
Own the organization’s overall financial strategy, planning, and analysis
Lead accounting, payroll, reporting, and internal controls
Oversee budgeting, budget modifications, and forecasting across all programs
Manage annual audits, compliance, and financial reporting (including Form 990)
Review and approve claims to government funders and ensure contract compliance
Partner closely with the CEO and Board on financial strategy and organizational growth
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
CPA strongly preferred
8–10 years of senior‑level financial management experience (nonprofit/human services highly preferred)
Experience with NYC and NYS government contracts; familiarity with DSS/DHS/HRA a strong plus
Comfort managing complex funding streams (government, philanthropy, other revenue)
Proficiency with Excel and nonprofit accounting/payroll systems
Track record of building and leading high‑performing finance teams
The compensation for this position ranges from $200,000.00 - $250,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
