Our client is an early stage, venture‑backed technology company building a platform that transforms personal assets into a liquid financial product. By combining computer vision, structured AI workflows, and pricing logic, the company delivers instant valuations while managing the full operational lifecycle, including authentication, logistics, and payout. They are building a category‑defining product in a complex, real world domain and are focused on speed, correctness, and long‑term scalability.
The Founding Engineer Our client is seeking a Founding Engineer to join at a critical early stage. This role will work closely with the founder and have significant ownership across architecture, systems design, and product development. The Founding Engineer will help shape the technical foundation of the platform while building and evolving core systems that support both customer‑facing experiences and internal operations.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys working end to end, navigating ambiguity, and building systems that must operate reliably under real‑world constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and evolve core platform architecture across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
Develop customer‑facing applications for uploads, portfolio tracking, and transaction initiation
Build and maintain data pipelines that convert images, certificates, and unstructured inputs into structured data
Support and extend AI and ML workflows for valuation, pricing, and evaluation
Integrate with third‑party services related to shipping, insurance, and communications
Build internal tools for authentication, case management, and exception handling
Establish early engineering standards, development patterns, and best practices
Implement logging, monitoring, observability, and secure data practices
Partner closely with the founder on technical strategy, roadmap decisions, and tradeoffs
Qualifications
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally in early‑stage or high ownership environments
Strong full stack experience with the ability to own features end to end
Demonstrated experience designing and scaling systems, not just implementing features
Comfort working with complex workflows, edge cases, and operational systems
Experience with data pipelines, ML‑adjacent systems, or image‑based workflows is a plus
Strong product intuition and ability to reason through technical and business tradeoffs
Builder mindset with a bias toward action, iteration, and learning from production use
Compensation
Base salary range: $180,000 to $220,000
Meaningful equity participation
Performance‑based bonus may be available as the company grows
Final compensation will depend on experience, scope, and level of ownership
Location
San Francisco Bay- must be located here.
