PA/NP Pediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology – Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is seeking a full‑time APP to provide specialized care for pediatric patients with gastrointestinal and liver conditions in collaboration with pediatric gastroenterologists and the multidisciplinary team. This role includes outpatient and inpatient management, patient education, and coordination of care for complex cases.
Role Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic interpretation for pediatric GI/hepatology patients.
Manage acute and chronic conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and nutritional disorders.
Perform and assist with procedures (e.g., feeding tube management, liver transplant coordination) as credentialed.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding disease management and treatment options.
Document care in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as appropriate.
Schedule Full‑time, primarily outpatient with some inpatient coverage. Flexible scheduling based on patient census. May include rotating call or weekend responsibilities.
Preferred
Experience with pediatric liver transplant patients.
Familiarity with enteral/parenteral nutrition management.
Comfort with electronic health record systems.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and ability to work in a team‑based environment.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in nursing (NP) or Physician Assistant Studies.
Licensure: Current NP or PA license; board certification in specialty area.
Experience: Pediatric experience preferred; GI/hepatology experience strongly desired.
