Senior Design Engineer A Senior Design Engineer leads and executes complex design projects, ensuring that products or systems meet technical specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role involves advanced design and analysis, project management, mentorship of junior engineers, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The engineer works autonomously with little guidance but also collaborates with the team to conceptualize and design based on customer requirements and stand behind the design.

Job responsibilities

Design advanced automation equipment using 3D software from concept through final design including 2D drawings for manufacture and build.

Plan the release of designs to ensure timely delivery and alignment with project timelines.

Verify equipment designs and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance functionality and efficiency.

Work with cross‑functional teams to implement all control requirements, simulation requirements, and safety requirements.

Perform engineering analysis to ensure design meets the requirement of the application.

Design systems integration concepts to ensure seamless operation and compatibility.

Prepare and evaluate budgetary considerations and stack‑up analysis for projects.

Develop comprehensive plans for design timing, monitor progress, conduct thorough reviews, and provide effective solutions for any arising issues.

Provide cross‑functional leadership to drive technical tasks to successful completion.

Create and execute test plans to evaluate system performance and address any issues encountered during testing.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and problem‑solving to resolve engineering and technical issues efficiently.

Travel to customer site to troubleshoot and find solutions for assembly issues and process issues (up to 25% travel).

Qualifications

10+ years of experience as a mechanical design engineer.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering with a proven track record of successful projects and innovations.

Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar, with advanced skills in 3D modeling, assembly design, and drawing creation.

Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design standards, with expertise in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
