Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Lake Success, NY (travel primarily within NY and NJ)
Job Type: Full Time
Role: Hands‑on Senior Engineer/Project Manager with a focus on MEP design and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities
Lead a team of engineers for performing energy audits, retro‑commissioning, and MEP design projects.
Review and develop detailed design drawings in AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit.
Conduct field surveys and measurements required for MEP design drawings, energy audits, and retro‑commissioning reports.
Perform engineering analyses and energy savings calculations using Microsoft Excel, eQuest, and other energy modeling software.
Develop flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment schedules, and detailed plans and specifications.
Coordinate design drawings with other trades (architectural, civil, structural, electrical).
Administer construction duties: review shop drawings, submittals, respond to RFIs, and resolve field issues.
Conduct quality reviews of mechanical designs, provide mark‑ups, and mentor junior engineers.
Utilize engineering and design software (Autodesk Revit MEP & AutoCAD) to complete assigned work.
Mentor junior engineers in load calculations, equipment selection, and sizing for HVAC equipment and systems.
Manage multiple projects concurrently, including scope, schedule, budget, and client management.
Assist in the development of proposals, RFP responses, and other business development tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned based on business requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
7‑10 years of experience in the MEP industry.
Experience in mechanical design of building infrastructure and energy conservation projects (hydronic systems, cooling towers, steam boilers, AHUs, building automation control systems).
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP; Revit experience a plus.
Experience with energy modeling techniques and software (eQuest, Trane Trace).
Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
Must be able to travel to job sites independently.
Self‑starting nature with the ability to see tasks through completion while meeting project budgets and deadlines.
Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
Good customer service skills.
