The Sous Chef plays a key role in the overall success of the culinary team. The Sous Chef prepares food ingredients and components for other chefs, handles kitchen sanitation and organization, and assists with various kitchen tasks to ensure a smooth workflow and timely meal service. Their duties include washing, chopping, and portioning ingredients; managing food inventory and storage; and adhering to food safety standards. They perform basic cooking while collaborating with the rest of the kitchen staff on more complicated menus. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, discreet, proactive, and experienced in high-end residential or hospitality settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Key Job Functions

Prepare cooking ingredients needed for daily menus and or events

Prepares and cooks food of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or events

Undertake basic cooking duties and collaborate with the other chefs

Follow a proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes

Provide support of any other culinary-related tasks as assigned

Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required

Maintain sanitation and cleanliness stands in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board

Follow proper handling and right temperature for all food products

Maintain a clean, neat, and well‑organized work area, including but not limited to reach‑ins, walk‑ins, and counters. Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor

Operate ovens, stoves, grills, smoker, and fryer to prepare foods

Assist in set‑up/break down of work stations

May assist by performing dishwasher or other kitchen duties as needed

Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Basic reading, writing and math skills.

At least 2 years food preparation experience or training required

Ability to work multiple stations in the kitchen and take direction

Ability to work independently and take direction from multiple team leads

Must be trustworthy, discreet, and service‑focused

Must be able to use kitchen tools safely and appropriately

Keep knives sharpened; able to use proper knife handling procedures; uses correct knives for food items or specific task

Must be able to use measuring tools to precisely measure ingredients and portion sizes

Valid Driver License

Valid TB clearance card

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds

Standing up and moving about the kitchen

Handling food, objects, products, and utensils

Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions

May be required to work weekends, and/or Holidays

May be required to travel to other locations

Ability to drive Utility vehicle

Ability to drive company vehicles

Salary Range $74 - $88 USD
