High Country: Private Equity Search, California, Missouri, United States, 65018
High Country Search Group: Private Equity has been retained to identify a Director of Finance for a fast‑growing, vertically integrated private investment firm that partners with real estate and private equity sponsors to address GP growth capital needs. The firm provides investors with differentiated exposure to GP economics through Co‑GP balance sheet investments, GP equity recapitalizations, carry buyouts, and GP commitment financing. Since inception, the platform has partnered with leading sponsors across real estate and private equity, committing several hundred million dollars of GP capital and supporting billions in underlying purchasing power. Backed by institutional investors, the firm is in a phase of sustained growth and operates with an institutional mindset while maintaining a lean, execution‑driven culture.
The Role: This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership leadership role responsible for overseeing the firm’s finance, fund accounting, and compliance functions across multiple funds and the management company. Reporting closely to firm leadership, the Director of Finance will serve as the internal owner of financial operations while coordinating with third‑party fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and compliance consultants. The role is ideal for someone who can run tight financial processes today and build scalable infrastructure for tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the fund close process (monthly, quarterly, and annual), partnering closely with third‑party administrators to oversee NAVs, capital account statements, fee and expense allocations, waterfalls, and related reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with LPAs, side letters, and firm policies
Lead all capital activity across funds, including capital calls, distributions, cash reconciliations, and coordination with legal and administrative partners on closings, transfers, and investor‑specific economics; serve as the internal escalation point for LP inquiries
Manage audit, tax, and compliance processes for both the funds and management company, ensuring audit readiness through accurate schedules, tie‑outs, documentation, and close coordination with external auditors, tax advisors, and compliance consultants
Oversee quarterly and annual valuation processes in partnership with the investment team, maintaining valuation frameworks consistent with GAAP / ASC 820 and preparing valuation support materials for auditors and LP diligence
Lead management company accounting and financial planning, including cash management, budgeting, forecasting, monthly financial reporting, variance analysis, and operating dashboards for senior leadership
Own and continuously improve the firm’s finance systems and infrastructure across funds and the management company, driving workflow efficiency, documentation, automation, and helping build and mentor a scalable finance function as the platform grows
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
7+ years of finance and accounting experience within private equity and/or real estate investment platforms
Deep familiarity with fund accounting, NAVs, capital calls, distributions, and LP reporting
Experience supporting audits and tax processes for private investment vehicles
Highly detail‑oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a lean, high‑ownership environment
Location: In‑person role based in Los Angeles, CA (Westside)
