Our tax practice expertly covers all aspects of tax planning and transactions, dispute resolution (both administrative and litigation), tax policy, transfer pricing, indirect taxes and wealth management tax advice and planning.

Baker McKenzie seeks a mid- to senior-level transactional tax associate to join its tax practice in the United States. In this role, you will be advising a diverse range of clients on the structuring of domestic and cross-border investments in various asset classes, private investment offerings and mergers and acquisitions and the drafting and negotiation of related contracts and investment documents. You will also be drafting memoranda and opinions on the most current, complex US tax issues.

Responsibilities

Advising clients on the structuring of domestic and cross-border investments, private investment offerings and mergers and acquisitions.

Drafting and negotiating related contracts and investment documents.

Drafting memoranda and opinions on complex US tax issues.

Qualifications

3-7 years of relevant tax experience in real estate taxation (including REITs, qualified opportunity zones and 1031 like-kind exchanges), private equity (including fund formation, carried interest structures and M&A), partnership tax and joint ventures, energy (including tax credit monetization transactions), and family office structuring.

Top academic credentials are a prerequisite; an LLM in taxation is not required, but may be favorably considered.

Applicants must be admitted to and a member in good standing of the local bar of the office to which the candidate is applying.

Pay Transparency

This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked.

The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $260,000 to $435,000 (annually or hourly) if located in an office in the state of California, Illinois, New York, or Washington, DC. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
