Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Lead Audit Counsel

KPMG US . We are currently seeking a leader to join our Office of the General Counsel and spearhead legal and regulatory matters for the Audit and Assurance Practice.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary OGC contact for leadership of the Audit and Assurance Practice on legal and regulatory matters related to the provision of professional services; advise the Tax and Advisory functions on similar matters, including dispute resolution.

Organize the work of the Practice Advisory Group to support the Audit and Assurance Practice.

Stay current on legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and advise the practice accordingly.

Support the development of comment letters and guidance for the Audit and Assurance Practice.

Qualifications

At least 15 years of experience in a well-regarded law firm, government agency, or in‑house legal department; JD or LLM from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S., including the state of the office location.

Deep experience with civil litigation and regulatory investigations related to audits of public and private companies; knowledge of securities laws, rules, and regulations affecting the audit profession.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high‑quality results; strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations.

Demonstrated collaboration skills and a client‑service orientation; ability to build strong business partnerships and work within cross‑functional teams.

Leadership skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence stakeholders, and manage relationships across the organization.

Proactive in identifying potential challenges, opportunities for enhancement, and innovation, including leveraging technology.
