Overview The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Maintenance Human Factors team provides implementation support to culturally diverse global customer airlines and other aviation organizations on a wide array of human factors and safety programs and processes. The team also leads or supports internal human factors and safety initiatives, including the Safety Management System and innovation projects such as Mixed Reality and maintenance digital transformation. A successful team member is a collaborator, an effective communicator, and proactive in achieving team goals while contributing to an exciting aerospace organization.
Position Responsibilities
Apply human‑factor methodologies and best practices to analyze, develop, evaluate, and enhance BCA customer support products and services (e.g., aircraft maintenance manuals).
Provide maintenance and ramp human‑factor support to customer airlines and maintenance organizations.
Develop and deliver human‑factor awareness and in‑depth training courses for Boeing internal and external customers.
Collaborate with aviation maintainers, design engineers, and systems engineers to validate maintenance crew assumptions and ensure maintenance data and interfaces complement the cognitive, physical, sensory, and ergonomic capabilities of Boeing product maintainers.
Apply human‑engineering tools and methods (task and workload analysis, digital human modeling, simulation and prototyping, usability evaluation, statistical and human‑error analysis) to assist in development, testing and evaluation of safe and effective user interfaces.
Perform human‑factor evaluation and safety assessments, present findings and recommend mitigations.
Support enterprise human‑factor engineering and safety initiatives.
Work under general direction from management and technical leadership.
Be willing to travel domestic and internationally extensively (up to 50 %).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a non‑US equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement; ABET accreditation preferred.
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
7+ years of experience in human‑factor engineering.
5+ years of experience in project management.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of industry regulatory authorities (e.g., FAA, EASA, UK CAA) rules, regulations, handbooks and standards.
Ability to understand the big picture and inter‑relationships of all positions and activities in the system.
Aviation maintenance or aviation ground operations work experience.
Experience with research, experimental design, task analysis, usability testing, aircraft safety protocols, data collection and analysis, aircraft maintenance practices.
Human modeling experience.
Master’s degree or PhD in human‑factor engineering, experimental psychology, industrial or systems engineering.
Professional certification in human‑factor engineering and/or aviation.
