Location: The Salvation Army USA Central Territory – North & Central Illinois Division

Employment Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt (FLSA Category: Full Time, Non-Exempt)

Pay Grade: 408

Pay Range: $64,195 – $93,083

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division provides these services to people in need.

Responsibilities

Perform full scope accounting duties for the General Fund accounting operations.

Reconciliation & Analysis Activities:

Review, analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement general ledger accounts, including timely identification and resolution of reconciling items; includes intercompany income and liability accounts.

Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving reconciling items.

Review cash flow requirements ongoing, providing recommendations as required.

Review reconciliations of general ledger accounts prepared by other General Fund accounting staff.

Support the annual budget process; ensure accuracy of budgets entered in Acumatica.

Financial Services & Activities:

Post various journal entries: reconciliation corrections, payroll distributions, insurance and pension expense distributions, support service earnings, interest earnings, standard charges and assessments.

Prepare monthly and annual financial reports.

Provide financial consultation to General Fund department managers and staff as required.

Ensure timely completion of monthly and year‑end general ledger closings.

Complete all start‑up activities required to open or begin a new fiscal year.

Review General Ledger activity on a regular basis to ensure proper account distributions.

Other:

Serve as backup for the General Fund Accountant.

Assist with internal audits by preparing requested responses, reconciliations and work papers supported by adequate documentation.

Assist with researching or resolving questions from vendors or department directors as requested.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum five years of accounting and finance experience.

Well‑balanced background in non‑profit general ledger, financial analysis and account reconciliations.

Experience using web‑based computerized accounting systems and Excel spreadsheets.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable experience.

Experience in a nonprofit or faith‑based organization preferred.

Experience in a multi‑entity organization a plus.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Some light physical work required.

Keep General Fund Accounting Manager informed on all critical issues concerning the area of responsibility.
