DHL Global Forwarding manages the flow of goods and information across a customer’s global supply chain utilizing air/ocean/ground transportation, customs brokerage services, and dedicated warehousing/distribution centers. We are part of Deutsche Post DHL, the world’s leading logistics provider with operations in over 220 countries.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review customs documentation, including import and export declarations, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required customs paperwork.
Coordinate and oversee customs clearance processes, including classification, valuation, and duty/tax determination, liaising with brokers, freight forwarders, and other parties.
Determine correct tariff classification of goods based on characteristics and composition, ensuring accurate application of tariff codes.
Ensure compliance with customs laws, regulations, and procedures, staying current with changes and implementing necessary measures.
Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders such as procurement, logistics, and sales, and liaise with customs authorities and external partners.
Identify and assess potential compliance risks, develop mitigation strategies, and investigate incidents or non‑compliance issues.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency gains, recommending and implementing enhancements.
Skills and Qualifications
Prior experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or related logistics/supply chain roles.
Experience interpreting regulations, tariff classifications, duties, and taxes.
Familiarity with customs software or electronic filing systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
Proven ability to address and resolve issues as they arise.
Experience analyzing documentation to proactively identify potential issues.
Effective collaboration with colleagues and other departments.
Detail‑oriented accuracy in documentation and data entry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
High School diploma or GED required.
Pay Range $21.32 - $28.43 per hour (Based on Experience)
