About the Real Estate Industry Company / The Opportunity Our client is a leading real estate investment trust (REIT), that specializes in acquiring single-tenant, net-lease properties across a diverse range of industries nationwide. As part of a dynamic investment team in Princeton, New Jersey, you will play a pivotal role in legal oversight for acquisitions, loans, and development transactions. This opportunity offers significant exposure to sophisticated real estate deals and the chance to collaborate with both internal stakeholders and top‑tier external counsel.

Responsibilities

Direct and oversee outside counsel throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

Lead the closing schedule and manage acquisition statuses to ensure timely transactions.

Develop initial structures for acquisitions and loans in partnership with investment professionals.

Analyze and address due diligence concerns, including title, survey, zoning, and environmental matters.

Collaborate and negotiate with both internal parties and outside counsel as needed.

Review and finalize Purchase and Sale Agreements, leases, and construction disbursement documents.

Support Deal Managers with initial lease reviews, transaction structuring, and legal input.

Provide final approval on settlement statements for completed transactions.

Contribute to company-wide process improvement initiatives and lead internal education sessions.

Assist with additional legal projects as assigned by senior leadership.

Must-Have Skills

Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited ABA law school.

4+ years legal experience working with REIT clients, with a focus on sale‑leaseback and triple net lease transactions.

Strong background in commercial real‑estate law.

Excellent oral and written professional communication skills.

Ability to work independently while proactively seeking guidance when needed.

Demonstrated organizational and administrative proficiency with attention to accuracy and timeliness.

Availability for in‑office attendance in Princeton, New Jersey, four days per week.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams on complex corporate transactions.

Expertise reviewing leases and construction disbursement documents.

Familiarity with process improvement initiatives in a legal or investment environment.

Previous experience designing or leading internal education or training sessions.

Exposure to a broad range of real‑estate asset types and transaction structures.
