POSITION SUMMARY: Campus Dining, within the Division of Auxiliary Services, is seeking a full-time General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for franchise concepts and partnership agreements in the Titan Student Union Food Court. Responsibility will include hiring, training, supervision, evaluating, disciplining, and employee development. The General Manager must maintain high standards of food quality, health and safety. They must ensure the efficient and profitable financial performance of the food service operations and the optimal utilization of staff and resources. The position of General Manager is expected to be committed to Cal State Fullerton’s diverse and inclusive work environment. The General Manager will be required to model an inclusive environment and management style.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Experience managing multi-concept food and beverage operations within a campus dining environment.

Proven ability to set operating goals and objectives while implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures.

Recruit, train, coach, and manage staff performance in accordance with established standards and codes of practice.

Develop and monitor staff schedules while maintaining accurate employee records.

Strong leadership in food and labor cost control, budgeting, variance analysis, and corrective action planning.

Oversee inventory management, ordering, receiving, storage, and quality control of food and beverage supplies.

Use all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the store tools include, MICROS, Monthly Status Report, Quarterly Business Review, cash management and inventory management.

Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards across kitchen and operational areas.

Coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and services to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Collaborate closely with Associate Directors, Marketing Manager, and franchise District Managers to meet operational goals.

Deliver exceptional customer service through direct interaction with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.

Oversee preparation and service of food and beverage items to ensure quality and consistency.

Lead implementation of seasonal promotions and company programs through action planning and team motivation.

Communicate clearly and effectively.

Demonstrate calm, integrity, and professionalism during high-volume or unusual events.

Build positive team relationships by understanding individual motivations, needs, and concerns.

Engage customers to identify needs and enhance the campus dining experience.

Inspire and challenge team members to achieve operational and financial objectives.

Manage additional operational areas and perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES:

Able to travel for training and professional growth

Complete all assigned training (ASC, Campus, and franchisor) on or before required due dates to maintain compliance.

Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, with evening shifts as assigned and occasional weekends

Assume opening /closing duties for the operation as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Progressively responsible manager experience (4 years).

Successful experience in a retail or restaurant environment (2 years).

Effective oral communication skills.

Excellence in customer service.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Comfortable with using technology and learning new programs.

Experience in staff management and development.

Attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks, and organizing work to meet deadlines.

Must be a self-starter, actively see out resolutions and proactively recommend solutions/provide feedback.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.

Experience in analyzing financial data and budget attainment.

Knowledge of planning and forecasting. Track record of managing inventory and cost control.

Knowledge of administrative procedures.

Oracle MICROS POS experience.

Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification must be attained after hire.

Culinary experience

EDUCATION:

Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to perform prolonged repetitive task including walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending. Ability to carry 25+ pounds of objects/material. Not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
