Job Description The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hospital Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa is seeking a full‑time, Pediatric Nocturnist hospital physician. This position will be assigned to work overnight shifts and is required to take call. The position is primarily clinical with involvement in the residency teaching program. Duties include in‑house patient care based at St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Tampa, FL. There is an opportunity for participation in the quality program and other educational and hospital‑based leadership opportunities with the ability to strengthen your clinical assessment without the requirement of hospital fellowship training. St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is a tertiary care, 120‑bed (including PICU & PCIU) hospital located in the heart of Tampa. The hospitalist program is staffed by approximately 4 FTE daily and 2 FTE nocturnists (typically 1 MD and 1 APP) and cares for routine and medically complex children with the responsibility of teaching residents and medical students. The appointment is non‑tenure earning and the salary is negotiable.
This position is eligible for a signing bonus .
Responsibilities This position is primarily responsible for admissions, with ongoing management of pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital and will teach residents. Responsible for providing direct medical care to patients in a hospital or medical clinic including answering clinic calls from the Chronic Complex Clinic. Typically reports to the head of a medical department. Typical duties include the diagnosis, treatment, operation, or prescription for any human disease, pain, injury, deformity, or other physical or mental condition. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate/Full Professor – Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
Minimum of 12 months of recent inpatient clinical care experience required.
Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un‑restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Must be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics.
