Position is responsible for developing and evaluating magnetic design for items in rotating equipment including stators and rotors and systems for new and existing products. Evaluates and troubleshoots electromagnetic design and potential manufacturing issues focused on improving SQDCI. Responsible for highlighting areas of interest and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and proper magnetic performance. Leads motor and generator design tasks and collaborates with the cross-functional team to ensure machining and assembly processes are low risk for safety and quality, efficient and at low cost. Major Responsibilities

Lead in the development, design and validation of existing and new motor designs utilizing 2D and 3D magnetic design software, 3D solid-modeling, CAD and FEA with a focus on machine performance, trade off analysis and early identification of performance issues. Follow the NPI Stage Gate process by participating in the following:

Ensure manufacturing process accommodates final machining to achieve geometrical tolerances. Plans and inspection methods. Defines and complies to all performance boundary conditions and delivers an acceptable design. Create high quality design that effectively satisfies customer needs while balancing overall risks, cost and complexity. Review GD&T as required to designs, and components drawings.

Communicate with and provide design expertise to; Suppliers, Customers, Design Engineering, Quality, Operations, Purchasing, and Sales. Work to meet your personal and department KPIs. Monthly, investigate and provide root cause analysis when KPIs are not met. Implement approved corrective actions. Works with the NPI team to improve existing processes and recommends changes to enhance quality and productivity. Works closely with operators to continuously improve current processes and develop new ones. Performs motor design engineering tasks as part of a New Product Introduction Team Member. Perform other duties as required. Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required. 20+years of relevant experience. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Mastery of magnetic materials and applications is required. Demonstrated problem solving skills, customer interaction and detail orientation. Proficient Understanding of Planning Electromagnetic Design Activities. Demonstrated Problem Skills through work examples. Proficient modeling skills. Advanced understanding of Magnets, Stators, Rotors and magnetic interaction. Communications Skills in Verbal, Written, and Electronic Methods. Proficient Understanding of GD & T Preferred.
