Assistant Principal – Lace Elementary School (Grades 3-5)
Qualifications
Valid certification as an administrator
Evidence of success in a certified teaching role
A master's degree with a major in educational administration (preferred)
Evidence of successful leadership at the school and/or district level
Successful completion of Illinois Performance Evaluation – Teacher Evaluation Training (preferred)
Experience with PBIS, MTSS, and SEL best practices (preferred)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Exemplary interpersonal skills
Experience with a diverse student population
Strong technology skills

Job Description The Assistant Principal works in conjunction with the Building Principal to carry out various leadership responsibilities in order to ensure a successful educational experience for District students. The Assistant Principal will work with the Principal at Lace Elementary School to coordinate efforts to ensure consistent leadership within the building and district.
Duties
Assist the Principal with evaluation of instructional staff (certified and non‑certified)
Implement student discipline management practices that support changes in student behavior, effective classroom instruction, and a safe school environment
Knowledge of trauma‑informed practices, restorative practices
Oversee and lead the development and implementation of the schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Behavioral interventions, attendance/truancy
Lead and facilitate data discussions revolving around MTSS behavioral supports
Serve as the lead for SEL professional development and collaborate with school social worker to implement effective social emotional learning skill development with staff
Knowledge of SEL best practices, CASEL competencies, etc.
504 Coordinator for building
Assist with planning, organizing, and implementation of all school extracurricular activities
Assist in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of the school's certified and student support staff
Collaborate with Principal and Staff in the successful development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan
Work with the building Principal and administrative team to implement meaningful student assessment, data collection and analysis to effectively monitor student growth, and inform educational practice, especially in area of SEL
Supervise before/after‑school activities/events as determined by the Principal
Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school's staff and students
Work productively and collaboratively as a school/district leadership team member to ensure the successful implementation of the district Strategic Plan
Assist with planning and conducting meetings, in‑services and workshops for staff and community as needed
Attend meetings, district activities, and training as assigned
Maintain open communication with building principal, district administration, students, parents, community and staff
Represent the district in a professional manner, and in the best interests of the district
Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities that may be assigned
Terms of Employment
12 months beginning July 1, 2026
Starting salary $90,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
