Role Description We are seeking a Project Accountant with extensive experience in ground-up construction accounting. This role oversees the financial health of the firm and all active development projects. You will manage construction draws, maintain accurate job cost reports, coordinate with lenders, track pay applications, and ensure all financial records remain clean and audit-ready. The ideal candidate understands the full development cycle and has hands‑on experience working with complex capital stacks, cost breakdowns, soft and hard cost allocations, and construction-related financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and submit monthly construction draws for all projects
Review pay applications, lien releases, change orders, and vendor invoices
Maintain detailed job cost tracking and forecasting for each project
Coordinate with lenders and equity partners to satisfy reporting requirements
Support the preparation of project budgets, draw schedules, and financial reports projections
Reconcile accounts, maintain organized general ledgers, and ensure accurate monthly closes
Assist ownership with cash flow planning and company‑level financial oversight
Implement accounting controls to maintain accurate and audit‑ready books
Oversee and track all financial transactions across the predevelopment, preconstruction, construction, and post‑construction phases of each project
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting at both the company and project‑by‑project basis
Record transactions and manage monthly accounting close processes on both a cash and accrual basis
Requirements
Strong knowledge of construction accounting, development budgets, and ground
Experience preparing monthly draws and communicating with lenders
Familiarity with job cost accounting systems and development of financial structures
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Clear communication and a professional approach when interacting with ownership, vendors, and lenders
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
